IndustriALL Women’s committee formed in Malaysia 3 November, 2014In a move to recognize the role of women, a women’s committee with affiliates from IndustriALL Global Union was formed on 28 October in Malaysia. The Committee is governed by the IndustriAll Malaysian Council (IMC) and aims to look closer at economic, social and legal issues affecting women workers in Malaysia.

The meeting discussed ATUC gender policy and passed in review women’s rights in the Arab world.

Women form a subregional network to promote ratification of ILO Convention 18316 September, 2014IndustriALL Global Union organized a subregional workshop on maternity protection in Manila, Philippines on 11 and 12 September 2014. The workshop was attended by some 30 women from the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia. The point was to find common ground to pursue the ratification of ILO Convention 183 on maternity protection in the different countries. Ultimately the women created a network and vowed to keep pushing for ratification.
IndustriALL India women discuss decent work29 August, 2014Some 40 women from IndustriALL affiliates from all over India met in Kolkata on 26 and 27 August to exchange experiences about what they have done so far and to think about what they want to do in the future. About 10 men leaders of the unions also took part in the workshop. It was held in the framework of the Asia Pacific union building project.
