BRAZIL: ABC Metalworkers' union and VW have negotiated an end to the dispute over 3,000 layoffs at Volkswagen's Anchieta plant in Sao Bernardo. The agreement - if accepted by employees - will prevent massive layoffs and pave the way for modernisation of the plant. The agreement does also include reduction in employees' salaries and work schedules. The agreement came after ABC Union president Luiz Marinho and VW management met in Germany last week. Workers will vote on the proposal this Wednesday, but have already ended their week-long strike.
