BULGARIA/SWITZERLAND: An IMF Bulgarian affiliate, the National Trade Union Federation "Metal-Electro," has reported a serious violation of human and trade union rights in Bulgaria by Swiss investors who have set up a company called Houald Industrial Systems. The company is situated in Voivodino.
According to the trade union, the manager of Houald Industrial Systems, Renato Pascua, fired all workers when they became trade union members and forbids any trade union activity on company premises.
The IMF is requesting its Swiss affiliate, the FTMH-SMUV (Industrial, Construction and Service Union), to exercise its influence with the Swiss mother company, Fiducharia mega CO, in Chiasso, Switzerland, in order to get the manager at Houald Industrial Systems to change his attitude and behaviour.
