Veteran Pakistan trade union leader dies

PAKISTAN: The IMF has been informed of the sad news that, following a brief illness, veteran Pakistani trade union leader Ghulam Miran Kashmiri passed away on December 23, 2000, in Lahore.
Brother Kashmiri was the president of the IMF-affiliated All Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions, as well as president of the National Bank of Pakistan Trade Unions' Federation, general secretary of the Federal Organisation of Bank Employees and Financial Institution, president of the National Bank of Pakistan Employees' Union Central Circle, Punjab, and deputy general secretary of the Pakistan Workers' Confederation.
The IMF expresses its deepest sympathy with the family of Ghulam Miran Kashmiri and with his colleagues and many friends. He will long be remembered for his lifelong, tireless efforts on behalf of the workers of his country.
