11 February, 200158 per cent of the T&G members have voted in favour of a work stoppage.

GREAT BRITAIN: Members of the biggest union represented at UK carmaker Vauxhall, the Transport & General Workers' Union (T&G), have voted to strike in protest at the announced closure of the company's Luton plant, according to BBC News. The T&G said its members had voted by 58% in favour of the stoppage.
Members of the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union (AEEU) and the Manufacturing, Science & Finance Union (MSF) voted against strike action. But the AEEU said a majority of its members had called for industrial action short of a walkout.
General Motors' decision to shut its Vauxhall plant in Luton shocked unions particularly in light of recent negotiations which had guaranteed new investment at the site.
Closure of the Luton plant will mean the loss of about 2,000 jobs.
