USWA calls for steel action

USA: The U.S. president has been asked to intervene once again to stop the current flood of steel imports, which are claimed to be causing severe and permanent damage to the U.S. steel industry.
Following the widespread use of anti-dumping actions in the USA, steel imports fell dramatically in 1999 but have since returned to near crisis levels. This has resulted in another round of temporary layoffs and could lead to bankruptcies and permanent closures for some U.S. steel companies.
