CHILE: For the first time, the International Metalworkers' Federation (IMF) organised a joint conference for the three areas of education, organising and communication. The purpose was to show the link between these three trade union activities. The Pan-American conference took place in Santiago de Chile with 40 participants from most of the IMF affiliates in Latin America and the Caribbean and from two IMF affiliates in North America.
The participants in the meeting gave strong support for the idea of opening an IMF regional website for Latin America and the Caribbean. The regional office in Santiago de Chile has started preparations, and the website, to be published in Spanish and Portuguese, will be launched in April next year.
