Globalisation must be a positive tool

GENEVA: The world's economy is increasingly concentrated in the hands of a few. What with stock market fluctuations and company mergers and takeovers, decisions of extreme importance for entire countries and affecting the lives and working conditions of hundreds of thousands of people are being taken with no prior consultation with those whose interests are at stake.
The IMF's general secretary, Marcello Malentacchi, explains in his new opinion column the reactions against globalisation which have been expressed so strongly during the last few years. The labour movement must debate how to bring globalisation to benefit workers and their families.
