GENEVA: Robert Steiert comes to the IMF from the International Department of the German metalworkers' union, IG Metall, in Frankfurt. He had been working there since 1979.
Prior to his job at IG Metall, he worked at the head office of the German policemen's trade union, Gewerkschaft der Polizei.
In the IMF Secretariat, Robert Steiert is a member of the Industrial Policy Team. He will be responsible for, among other things, the Electrical and Electronics Machinery Department and Work Organisation Department.
