USA: Due to a heavy bargaining schedule and a number of other reasons, the United Steelworkers of America has just informed the IMF of the cancellation of the world aluminium conference planned for October 30-November 1, 2000.
It is expected that the conference, for unions representing workers in Alcoa, Kaiser, Pechiney, Alcan and Noranda operations worldwide, will be rescheduled for early 2001.
Unions which were to participate in this event will be notified once new arrangements have been completed.
