Another pair of ICEM affiliates also is on the road to merger. In Sweden at the congress of Industrifacket, the Industrial Workers’ Trade Union, delegates voted to merge with Svenska Metall. That ICEM affiliate, which includes mineworkers, will now vote at its congress in September on the merger agreement. If passed, the merger is expected to take effect in January 2006.
