17 September, 2014400 workers stand to loose their jobs if Korean multinational Doosan closes its plant in Belgium.
Multinational corporation Doosan with 30,000 employees worldwide is active in a wide range of industries. Near Mons in Belgium, it manufactures construction equipment. The company has now announced plans to close its Belgian factory even though orders are coming in.

The trade unions have entered into discussions with management at Doosan, supported by local politicians.
Matthias Hartwich, IndustriALL Director for mechanical engineering and materials industries slams the decision:
We can not accept this kind of cherry-picking: Also MNC’s have a social responsibility that goes beyond the mere shareholder value.
