Serbia: Three week strike at FIAT ends

28 julio, 2017Two thousand striking workers at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' (FCA) plant in Serbia – FCA Srbija – have suceeded in gaining a 9.5 per cent pay increase and keeping their annual bonus, amongst other gains, in a deal signed between Fiat and Serbian trade unions on 25 July.

Rio Tinto global union network welcomes commitments from company

Ukrainian miners return above ground after pay promise

26 julio, 2017Miners at the Kapustin and Novodruzhska mines in the Lugansk region of Ukraine have come to the surface a week of protesting underground over unpaid salaries. It follows a meeting on 20 July where the Ministry of Energy and Coal approved the payment of outstanding wages, which in some cases stretch back to 2015.

Algeria: 5,000 police used to stop energy workers’ march

25 julio, 2017Some 5,000 police officers in Algeria were deployed to stop a rally in the city of Bejaia on 20 July, arresting more than 600 union members and citizens in the process.

South Africa: Union victory over precarious work

24 julio, 2017In a major victory against precarious work, IndustriALL affiliate, the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA), won a case against temporary employment service providers, also known as labour brokers, in the Labour Court of Appeal on 10 July. The breakthrough came after years of continuous campaigns by South African trade unions to stop the intensified exploitation of workers by agencies, such as labour brokers.

Electrical sector in Latin America builds unity and strength
