4 December, 1999The Swedish Metalworkers' Union has kicked out a member of the union who was pointed out as a Nazi leader.

SWEDEN: For the first time in its 111-year-old history, the Swedish Metalworkers' Union (Svenska Metall) has expelled a union member, Anders Ärleskog, for political reasons.
"It is impossible to be a member of both Svenska Metall and a Nazi organisation," said the union's Executive Committee in its decision taken on December 1. It refers to the paragraph on the union's basic values: "All Metall's activities are based on the philosophy that all people are of equal worth."
In an unprecedented joint initiative, on November 30, four competing major Swedish newspapers published the names and photos of 62 Nazis. Ärleskog was one of them.
Commenting on his expulsion from Svenska Metall, Ärleskog said: "I would in any case have left that bloody shit organisation."
