6 September, 1999Three-day discussions will cover the IMF's Model Code of Conduct, the Euro's impact on metal industries, as well as restructuring at SKF.

GENEVA: The IMF-SKF World Union Committee is meeting from September 8-10 in Egmond aan Zee, Netherlands. Some 50 participants will be in attendance, representing 17 unions organising SKF workers in 12 countries. SKF management will take part in the discussions on September 9.
Following a presidium report, the first day of the meeting will be devoted to internal union discussion, with coverage of significant country developments. Emphasis will be placed on both the impact of the Euro on the metal industries and the IMF's Model Code of Conduct for TNCs.
On the second day, the group will hear reports from SKF management and have the opportunity to formulate specific questions or demands for discussion with management. Of particular interest will be SKF's restructuring plans, as well as the on-going question of organising the SKF plant in Malaysia.
A tour of the SKF Nieuwegein Research Center will highlight the final day of activities for the meeting.
