Membership goes up at IMF

20 June, 2000Unions representing over 800,000 members have affiliated to the International Metalworkers' Federation.

BIRMINGHAM: Today, June 21, 2000, at its Central Committee meeting in Birmingham, UK, 9 unions from 7 countries have been accepted as IMF affiliates. Two of these are Russian unions, representing 700,000 members. Three unions representing 81,000 members come from the Balkan states, and two unions representing 28,000 members are Moroccan.
The new IMF affiliates are:
Bosnia-Herzegovina: Trade Union of Metalworkers;
Cameroon: Fédération Nationale des Syndicats des Industries Métallurgiques et Mécaniques du Cameroun -- FENASIMECAM,
Gabon: Syndicat National des Industriels -- SNCAI;
Morocco: Syndicat National des Travailleurs des Industries Métallurgiques, Mécanique, Electriques et Electroniques -- SNTIMEE-CDT;
Morocco: Fédération Nationale des Travailleurs de la Métallurgie -- FNTM-UMT;
Montenegro: Samostalni Sindikat Metalaca Crne Gore;
Russia: Automobile and Farm Machinery Workers' Union of Russia -- AFM;
Russia: Syndicat des Travailleurs de la Construction Mécanique de Russie -- STCM;
Republic Srpska: Metalworkers' and Miners' Union of Republika Srpska.
