INDIA: Trade union education must be closely linked to core union activities, such as organising, collective bargaining and communication. This was the conclusion of the 21 participants from 15 countries in Africa and Asia at the IMF-ILO Workshop for Educators, held in Bangalore, India, from October 2-15.
The workshop focused on providing the participants with skills on making presentations, planning sessions and planning courses. The IMF will monitor their training activities during next year and a follow-up workshop has been planned.
David Seligson from the IMF office in Geneva and Raghwan from the ILO office in Bangkok were responsible for the training, with IMF staff from the regional offices in New Delhi, Kuala Lumpur and Johannesburg assisting.
