12 February, 2001The International Metalworkers' Federation has invited its affiliates to participate in the first IMF Summer School.

GENEVA: The first IMF Summer School will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, from June 4 to 15, 2001. The programme will be carried out in cooperation with the Université ouvrière de Genève (Geneva Workers' University).
The invitation letter to IMF affiliates describes the summer school as a unique opportunity for trade union leaders and activists to discuss the challenges of the future. During the two weeks, participants will discuss topics such as globalisation and international labour standards. They will also have the opportunity to visit international institutions in Geneva, such as the ILO, WTO and IMF.
The languages for the school will be English and Spanish. The number of participants will be limited to a maximum of 20, and the deadline for applications is February 28.
