26 September, 1999Chinese labour group goes to South Korea for talks with fellow trade unionists.

KOREA, REP: Representatives of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) recently travelled to Seoul for a visit with their counterparts at the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU). The main purpose of the visit was to conclude an agreement between the two labour organisations for supporting each other through regular exchanges of information and personnel.
The Chinese group was also received by officials at the Ministry of Labour, the Federation of Korean Employers and the Korean Traders Association.
Among the five-member ACFTU delegation was its vice-chairman and secretariat member, Xu Xicheng. With 120 million members, the state-controlled ACFTU is the world's largest trade union.
The FKTU is one of the two main Korean umbrella labour groups, to which the Federation of Korean Metalworkers' Trade Unions, an IMF affiliate, belongs.
