Oil and gas trade unions, including the ICEM, were represented for the first time at the annual Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition last month in Baku, Azerbaijan. The eighth running of the show included oil and gas workers’ unions from Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, and Norway.
Trade unions representing the ICEM’s Caspian Energy Project, together with staff from the Brussels Secretariat, manned colourful booths and distributed brochures, pins, banners and histories of their respective unions. Materials on HIV/AIDS, health and safety, contract and agency labour, and general labour relations were also presented to oil and gas company trade representatives.
